@SanDiegoFKNROCKS I didn’t give him a 6 because he didn’t perform well. It was more because he had almost no shots on goal to stop so there wasn’t much to talk about when it came to Tim Howard.

@4masterfuls Nothing wrong with that, I just hope he doesnt stick with the Mexican players too much, sometimes they are out of form or in the case of Orozco, hasnt really gotten the position yet. While I agree that looking that the pool is good (unlike Bradley), I hope he doesnt play favorites too much.

  3. USsoccerdudes says:

@Eliot17 Why do you think JK brought Hamid on for training, it is a start, Guzan should go to Championship but remember that guys like Ben Foster who are now EPL starters didnt start until they were 29, Howard was just special. We also have a 20 year old in Samir Badr who plays reserves for FC Porto, he was important enough that we couldnt get him to leave his club for u20 WC qualifying.

  4. 4masterfuls says:

I think with JK as coach, look for Torres and Mixx to be around in the attacking midfield position for years to come.

  5. Eliot17 says:

I agree with you man that he is the best gk we have, and we should start him for qualifying because we still don’t have another gk, but we should at least TRY to look in friendlies and start someone else. We can’t just stick with the same old same old like we did with Bradley, we get behind in the competition in CONCACAF. But just maybe we might find the gk of the future if we at least looked.

  6. Eliot17 says:

He was younger back then. I’m not talking about the past, he was great then I really think he peaked in 2007, maybe ’08. Look at the mexico final in 2007 highlights great leaping gk by Howard. Now he is a shadow of is formal self, showing flashes of what he once was (argentina game) in a friendly. A friendly, where was he when Mexico came back to tie 2-2? Our defenders suck, but they are human, for god sakes at least make a leaping dive at least. He just stands there, gives up halfway.

@USsoccerdudes I agree casillas is a great gk, Barcelona is just that great of an attacking team. I’m just saying, shouldn’t we experiment and put someone else at gk in friendlies to maybe see if we can find the next gk for our future? Why should we even have regular starts in is beyond me. Or are we really going to stick with Howard for another 4 years he isn’t getting any younger.

@Eliot17 tim howard is actually better than the mexican goalkeepers but the u.s backline sucks why was he crawling you ask? Well simple as that, there are like 5 u.s guys and none of them did shit to get to giovanni so he was forced to come out. Now how come you only look at the mexico game and not see that vs spain in 2009 he made excellent saves and also vs argentina in 2011 that if not for him it would of not been a 1-1 tie , but a thrashing to the u.s but because of tim we ended with a tie.

  10. USsoccerdudes says:

@Eliot17 Actually, it only seems that way because Howard is forced to make more saves than any other gk. When Casillas lost 5-0, it doesnt mean that he was a bad gk. Mexico’s gks are not actually that good, the backup wasnt that good against us, and ochoa is known for making bad mistakes. Most Mexico fans admit that Ochoa isnt that good, nor is the backup: they just look acrobatic but with good positioning they wouldnt need to do all those jumps.

  11. Eliot17 says:

@greenman1694 EXACTLY, that’s just it. He’s the best goalkeeper the U.S has. Unfortunaly, our best gk is mediocre at best. Granted, our defense needs a shitload of work but does that excuse Timmy boy from the aggressiveness that he showed against Gio in the final in the infamous crab walk? He does it time and time again when our defense falters in recent USA matches it’s getting to be the norm. Look at Mexico’s gk’s, excellent goal keeping with amazing young skill, and they have 3 of them.

  12. greenman1694 says:

@Eliot17 tim howard is the best goalkeeper the u.s has infact vs the england game in south africa that was the only player position for position that we had the advantage of. His lazy ass? It’s the stupid defence. Mainly Jonathan bornstein and clarence goodson who i insist is a horrible defender.

  13. Eliot17 says:

Are we ever going to dump Tim Howard’s lazy ass? Since his performance in the Gold Cup, the ghana game, and his continous lazy goal keeping I’m wondering if were ever going to move on without him. Or are we going to keep making excuses (oh it was a lucky goal) like we did with Bob Bradley?

  14. USsoccerdudes says:

@greenman1694 oops, our bad. He did kind of seem pro-Mexico thogh. Whatever, i hope they sign him on for more appearances, he is really good at what he does.

  15. greenman1694 says:

Jorge Ramos isn’t mexican lol he’s uruguayan and he only supports uruguay. He has a show on espn deportes called jorge ramos y su banda. It’s a 3 hour show where they analyze about various soccer topics nice show.

  16. USsoccerdudes says:

@bkmelendez Adu doesnt fit in anything at all until he becomes match fit. Beasley has to compete with Shea the new kid, while Castillo is an actual LB, but he just hasnt played it in a while Still better than Bornstein though.

  17. camisa0ch0 says:

USA played better overall Mexico looked confident like 20 min into the first half but that was pretty much it i would say Lando Donovan bossed Mexico again but didnt bag a goal this time

  18. bkmelendez says:

Where does Adu fit in all this?

Lavolpe got fired from the Costa Rica job so it’s going to be really interesting how they restructure in the game against the US. I’m really digging what I’m seeing from Brek Shea, even at club level against Pumas. He’ll get some offers to go overseas if he finishes the season strong. Castillo, well he’s not really a left back so I like to see him on the left mid spot. Beasley I’ve been watching at Puebla and he’s looked good to me.

  19. SanDiegoFKNROCKS says:

Jack Powell. You gave Tim Howard a 6… The guy got the luckiest goal of his life… To be honest it should of been 1-0 US. Given that Howard technically had a perfect game. Tim only had 1 Mistake but not enough to give him a 6. Bradley, Jones Agudelo, Landon, and Brek were spot on rating I would say you gave. Harsh Review Jack but not bad. USsoccerdudes… not as harash imo but solid.

  20. hbknutjack says:

I had a 7 written down on my review sheet for Donovan and Juan, I’m not quite sure why I said 8 for either.

  21. ogking323 says:

Us got dominated the first 2/3 of the game then the last third they dominated mexico IMO
